Experiment

So I was listening to a Grizzly Bear song just a little too loudly. I could feel the music in my ears and it resonated down my body and it occurred to me that the sensation I was feeling was really pleasing.

I got the idea to write some music and lyrics that FEEL good. I'm going to write something that feels like a massage. Or, well... thats my inspiration. I'll let you know how it turns out.

New Lyrics / Old Song

She's gonna miss your calls
She's gonna miss your texts
She's gonna miss the moan you make
During late night phone sex

but most of all she's gonna miss the way you call her baby.

She's gonna miss the the way you say
You'll always ....
The flippant little ways
that you find her amusing

but most of all she's gonna miss the way you call her baby

you were the one who forced her to have fun.
Gave her the strength to look beyond the sun
Now that its over you still say that you won her.

She's gonna miss the way you took her hand.
Showed her the moon and pointed out the sand
Reminded her that its okay to change her plan.

She's gonna miss deep conversation
Waiting by the phone with great anticipation
but most of all she's gonna miss the way you call her baby

or something like that

Glimmer

Tonight was a good night for easing back into music mode. I skipped after dinner TV and had intended to get on one of my favorite websites e-chords.com and fool around with someone else's music. Instead I decided to just practice my own songs. I was really needing that practice.

At times my fingers seemed to have a stubborn life of their own. Other times I felt that wonderful spark of happy I get when my music amuses me.

I know full well that this is a hobby. I'm not in this to make money or win fame. I just really enjoy it. It is a pleasurable activity which causes smiles.

Tonight I found myself out of practice, out of tune, out of new chords and without a recognizable key to sing in. But for a moment here and there I felt it. Like a car that aaaalmost turns over. One that just needs to be cranked a couple more times. One that will roar to a start and settle into a lovely purr on down the highway.

I feel excited again.
I feel like recording.

I even strung 3 chords together. I even improved lyrics for a song with my daughter. Its the closest I've been to new music in months. Maybe since December 31.

Yikes.

So I'm reinvigorated to record and finish some of those poor neglected half songs. I know I have said it before. But you know I'm supposed to be editing my book so maybe this is JUST the legitimate excuse I needed to put that off longer.

;)

Tiers of Ire

Music Blog, for when I should be making music but feel like writing instead. If there is anything you would like to know or see here, by all means ask. I work best when I have a little feedback.

Lately I haven't been very inspired to write. So that blows. I dunno. I'm busy? My head is cloudy?

What other excuses can I come up with?
